Education. Skills. Dignity. Opportunity.

UMOJA builds sustainable education and apprenticeship ecosystems in Kenya — connecting Swiss expertise with local impact.

Early Education Matters

Early education strongly shapes a child's future. In many lower-income communities, children do not always have access to the learning resources, guidance, and exposure needed to develop strong foundations for their future, which can hinder their academic and social development compared to their peers in more affluent areas. Supporting early education helps children build curiosity, confidence, and practical skills that guide them toward meaningful career paths later in life. When children are given the opportunity to learn and grow early on, they are far more likely to break cycles of poverty and create better futures for themselves and their communities.

Education for the Future

Kenya is growing quickly, yet many young people from lower-income communities still lack access to the education and skills needed to participate in this progress. Without these opportunities, many are left facing unemployment and poverty instead of building a stable future.

Safe Water. Healthier Futures.

Our goal is to increase Kenyan communities' access to clean water so they can live safely. This crucial plan will become a reality with your help.

A Full Stomach, A Strong Mind

A child cannot focus on learning when they are hungry. For many students, the meal they receive at school may be the only food they have all day. Proper nutrition gives children the energy to concentrate, grow, and fully participate in their education. By helping provide meals for students, we are not only feeding children, but we are also fueling their learning, their confidence, and their future.

Kakuma Refugee Camp Why Support Matters

A Community Larger Than Many Cities
Kakuma Refugee Camp in north-western Kenya hosts over 200,000 people who have fled conflict and instability across East Africa. For many families, the camp has become a long-term home where children grow up and entire generations spend their lives waiting for opportunities beyond survival.

Limited Resources for a Growing Population

Life in the camp is extremely challenging. Access to food, clean water, healthcare, and education is often limited, and many residents rely heavily on humanitarian aid to meet their basic needs. When global funding decreases, food rations and essential services are often reduced, directly affecting vulnerable families.

A Generation of Youth With Untapped Potential

A large portion of Kakuma’s population is made up of children and young people. Many are eager to learn, work, and contribute to society but lack access to quality education, vocational training, and career opportunities that would allow them to build independent futures.

 The Importance of Sustainable Support

Supporting communities like Kakuma is not only about emergency aid—it is about creating opportunities for education, skills, and self-reliance. When people are given access to learning, training, and small economic opportunities, they can begin to build stability for themselves and reduce long-term dependence on aid.

Building Hope and Opportunity

With the right support, programs focused on education, training, and community development can help young people gain the knowledge and confidence needed to shape their own futures. Investing in people today helps create stronger, more resilient communities tomorrow.
